UW Housing:
The Move-In Guide
A strategic content series designed to reduce anxiety for incoming students by turning boring logistics into a playful "First Mission."
The Challenge
New students are often overwhelmed by the logistics of moving in. Important details like key pickup times and ID requirements often get lost in long emails. The goal was to stop students from skimming past critical rules and ensure they actually arrive prepared.
The Solution: "Goose Style"
I utilized the university's unofficial mascot (the Goose) to create a friendly, illustrated guide. By using a checkerboard aesthetic and bold "sticker" visuals, we turned dry rules into a "Pack Like a Pro" checklist that feels engaging rather than administrative.

Anticipating the Unknowns
The strategy behind the FAQ wasn't just to list information, it was to preemptively address anxiety. By analyzing historical support tickets, I identified the top 4 friction points (Keys, Timing, Guests, Wifi) and translated them into plain language. This proactive approach aims to reduce front desk congestion and make students feel supported before they even arrive.
What do I need to get my keys?
You need one piece of physical government-issued photo ID (like a passport or driver's license). Digital photos or screenshots will not be accepted.
Can I move in early?
No early move-ins are permitted. If you arrive before August 28, you must find short-term accommodation near campus.
What if I arrive late?
If you arrive after August 31 or outside your time slot, just visit your front desk during open hours. If you will be very late, fill out the Late Arrival form.
Will I have Wi-Fi?
Yes! All residences have Wi-Fi through eduroam. You can log in using your Quest credentials as soon as you arrive.
